Lately there has been much talk of a new superfood after quinoa. Before quinoa there was Chia Seeds. With the world's increase of health awareness, you see a lot of effort goes into discovering good healthy food that has been around for ages.
Some month ago, everyone was crazy over quinoa. Cousin Bro still is, he has been cooking and eating it to supplement rice. Quinoa taste like a DNA combination of rice and oats. I haven't quite made up my mind about it yet.
Now quinoa's position has been usurped by Kale. Much publicity has been given to it hailing it as the next superfood, rich in beta carotene, Vit K, C and calcium. It also boost DNA repair and block cancer cells - the new age super veggie. It's in snacks, juice, recipes, talk shows etc.. As you can see from its very green color, it has a stronger than average veggie taste - can be quite challenging to some people. Sometimes I find it irony that veggies are not appealing because they have a veggie, green taste. What do you expect veggie to taste like? Chicken?
Anyway, Kale has been in my radar lately because I have been reading up on healthy eating due to my very bad cholesterol and also a colleague's husband planted and sold some Kale for $70.00. Aunty also bought some Kale because I have been tooting it.
Cousin Bro who hated his veggies will not thank me for this. Maybe I can tell him this is quinoa leaves...
